Here is this week's Theme Thursday submission. I know, I just put up last week's two days ago. But when I saw the topic, I knew what I had to put in.
This is an injection mould press. Melted plastic is forced into a mould by a giant screw. When the plastic cools enough (which takes an amazingly small amount of time), the mould opens and the part is pushed out with pins (that's why some plastic stuff has those little circular imprints on them).
This particular machine was the smallest one that I worked with. I think it was an 8 ton press. But in the factory I worked, there was one 30 ton press (it was broken while I was there though, thank goodness). And, of course, there were a whole range in between. This specific machine was also a pain in the butt! It kept breaking down. But, such is life, huh?
Enjoy!
